Welcome! Glad you came, this is where I publish some of the details of my world. I live on the island of Carriacou, part of the tri-island state of Grenada in the Leeward Islands of the West Indies.
Carriacou is tiny, only about 15 sq. miles and besides the 2 main towns of Harvey Vale & Hillsborough, it is quite rural with goats, sheep & cattle roaming about.
I retired here in 2011 when I lost my last job & just turned 62. Which meant I could sign up for early social security and that, along with a small IRA I can afford to get by alright, where I couldn't in the US.
I was able to rent a nice place on top of a hill overlooking the Atlantic and the sister island of Petite Martinique ...that is until July 1, 2024 when hurricane Beryl destroyed it.
Since then I have been living in an 8' x 12' workshop that I converted to a tiny home. I've got a propane stovetop for cooking, electricity, an Internet connection and two 1,000 gallon water tanks plus a 4' x 8' outside pit toilet and shower room.
It's been kind of a struggle, but it is quiet and peaceful here and the folks are mellow. I've written about my recovery from Beryl over on Substack at; Day To Day
